3. What do I do if someone has given me a (some) dakband(s)? a. If you do not already have an account, you MUST create an account by clicking on the registration link on our homepage. Our registration and story wizard will walk you through the steps of posting the story of how you received your band.
b. Once you have an account you can see all the stories attached to the band you have received, and you will be able to see all the stories that become connected to it as you pass it on!

4. How many bands should I wear at one time? a. Well, that depends on how many you have. We suggest you always wear them in pairs because you give them away in pairs! One is for the person who you was being kind to keep, and one is for them to pass along to someone else. However if you receive only one, then you can continue to pass it along as a single band when you witness someone doing something kind, and we hope you will consider buying more in order to perpetuate deliberate acts of kindness. |

5. How many bands do I give to someone who I see being kind? a. We suggest you give them away in pairs. One is for the person to keep, and one for them to give to someone else they witness being kind. Hopefully each person who receives dakbands will be so encouraged by the concept that they buy more in order to keep encouraging kindness and a kinder world. However, if you have only one band and you witness a kind act be sure to pass it on! |

6. Do I give the dakbands to strangers I see doing something kind? a. YES. That is the intention, to make connections with people in our communities that we might not otherwise engage with. We want to encourage kindness, recognize that every kind act leads to another kind act and appreciation. However please do not encourage young children to approach strangers unless they are accompanied by an adult. And remember, you can also give dakbands to people you know – they don’t have to be strangers!! |

7. What do I say when I want to give someone a dakband? a. The first time you give a dakband away to someone you don’t know you might feel a bit anxious, or nervous, but the response is usually so positive and uplifting that you’ll be looking for opportunities to give them away just to experience peoples reactions. You will soon discover something personal that works for you, but I usually something to this effect, “ Hi, I just saw you…………..(hold the door open that woman). I’d like to give you these two dakbands, they for recognizing kind acts in our community. One is for you to keep and one is for you to give to someone else you catch doing something kind.” Sometimes I add that they can go to the website to share their story. That’s it. Simple. |

8. What is the Map on the homepage all about? a. The map randomly scrolls through organizations that you will find in our tag cloud. It displays the top 20 to 40 bands associated with the organization in a list beside the map and autoplays the path each band has made. The stories of kindness associated with each exchange appear on the map. The autoplay can be turned off and you can choose whatever bands you would like to see from the list. |

9. What are the MABS? a. The MABS are map action buttons. These buttons sort all the dakbands in the system by the description in the button. For example: by distance traveled, by number of communities, by number of stories attached to the band, and by number of countries the bands have traveled through. |
